The steps

  1. Copy the link of a single video, not the channel's home page.
  2. Paste it into CLPX. The link is checked straight away, so you know at once if it cannot be fetched.
  3. CLPX transcribes the video and cuts candidate clips, each framed for 9:16 on the speaker.
  4. Review the clips with live captions, choose a caption style and colour, and trim where needed.
  5. Approve, then post to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok and any other platform you connect.

Getting 16:9 to 9:16 right

  • Follow the face. A fixed centre crop cuts off anyone sitting to the side, so CLPX tracks the speaker and crops around them.
  • Keep captions readable and clear of the speaker's face.
  • Start on a sentence, not halfway through one. CLPX snaps clip edges to sentence boundaries.
  • Check the length against each platform. CLPX refuses to schedule a clip that is longer than a platform you picked accepts, and tells you which platform and by how much.

Clipping a whole channel, not one video

If you clip the same creator every week, add their channel as a watched channel instead of pasting links. CLPX checks it every 5 minutes and clips each new upload on its own.

Other sources

Besides YouTube, CLPX accepts links from TikTok, Instagram, X and Facebook, direct links to video or audio files, and uploads. It does not import from Vimeo, Twitch, Google Drive or Dropbox.

Can I turn someone else's YouTube video into Shorts?

Only with the rights to, for example through the creator's clipping programme or a licence. CLPX asks you to confirm that before it processes a video, and you remain responsible for each platform's rules on reused content.

How long can the clips be?

CLPX makes clips between 12 seconds and 3 minutes, and will not schedule one longer than the platform you picked accepts.

Does it add captions automatically?

Yes, timed to each word, in 27 spoken languages detected automatically. There are 6 caption styles and 12 palettes, and you choose where the colour lands.

Is there a watermark?

No. CLPX does not add its own watermark to clips.
