Turn a podcast episode into short clips for every account

Clipping a podcast well takes three things: moments that make sense without the rest of the episode, a vertical crop that follows whoever is talking instead of sitting in the middle of a wide shot, and captions timed to every word. CLPX does all three from a YouTube link, an RSS feed or an uploaded file. You review the clips and keep the ones worth posting, and CLPX posts them to your accounts as a different video on each.

What makes a podcast clip work

  • It stands alone. A clip that starts mid-thought, or depends on a question asked ten minutes earlier, loses people in the first second. CLPX snaps clip edges to sentences and keeps clips between 12 seconds and 3 minutes.
  • It shows the person talking. Most podcasts are filmed wide with two or more people, so the vertical crop has to move to whoever is speaking.
  • It works with the sound off. Captions timed to each word, in a style that reads on a phone, carry the clip for people scrolling on mute.
  • It is not a copy. If the same moment is going to several accounts, each account needs its own version.

From episode to posted clips

  1. Paste the episode's YouTube link, upload the file, or add the show's RSS feed so every new episode is clipped automatically.
  2. CLPX transcribes the episode, suggests moments and cuts them for 9:16, framed on the speaker.
  3. Watch each clip with live captions within a few minutes. A full set from an hour-long episode usually lands in about fifteen.
  4. Pick a look (6 caption styles, 12 colour palettes, 30 templates), tighten any trim, and approve.
  5. Post to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Facebook and Pinterest, now or on a schedule.

You still choose the moments

Picking the moment is the part of clipping experienced clippers trust themselves with, and they are right to. CLPX suggests moments so you are not scrubbing through a 90-minute episode, but nothing is posted until you have watched it and approved it. Drop a clip, trim it, or change its look first.

How many episodes a plan covers

What is the best way to clip a podcast?

Pick moments that stand on their own, reframe to 9:16 on whoever is speaking, caption every word, and keep each clip only as long as the story needs. Then post a different version to each account rather than one file everywhere.

Can it handle two or three people on camera?

Yes. The vertical crop follows the person who is speaking, which is what makes a wide podcast shot work at 9:16.

Which languages can it caption?

27 spoken languages, detected automatically. CLPX is built English first, and it also handles Hindi and Hinglish, with captions in Roman or native script.

Do I need the rights to clip the podcast?

Yes. Before CLPX processes a video you confirm you own it or have permission to edit and publish it, for example through the show's clipping programme.
